How to choose toys & games
Choose an age-appropriate toy that fits the child's interests and the space available. Replay value, replaceable parts and ease of storage matter more than the number of pieces in a box.
| Check before buying | Why it matters | Trade-off or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Age grading and hazards | Read small-part, magnet and battery warnings and supervision requirements. | An educational claim does not override the stated age restriction. |
| Replay value and compatibility | Check whether it works with existing sets and supports repeat play. | A specialist expansion may require a base set you do not own. |
| Storage and replacements | Check spare pieces, washable parts and battery or subscription needs. | A low initial price can hide recurring costs. |
Common mistake: Wooden or recycled construction is not a substitute for checking the exact toy's safety information.
