How to choose kitchen & dining
Choose kitchen equipment around the meals you make, the space you have and how you clean it. A durable item that fits your cooker and cupboard is usually more useful than a large accessory set.
| Check before buying | Why it matters | Trade-off or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Capacity, dimensions and compatibility | Check hob type, oven limits, cupboard clearance and portion size. | Large capacity can mean extra storage, weight and washing-up. |
| Care instructions and replacement parts | Look for replaceable seals, lids or handles and realistic cleaning requirements. | Dishwasher convenience may shorten the life of some finishes; follow the maker's instructions. |
| Materials and actual usage costs | Compare coating care, refill or filter costs and energy use where stated. | A premium material alone does not prove better cooking performance. |
Common mistake: Do not assume every stainless-steel pan is induction-compatible or every reusable container is freezer-, microwave- and oven-safe.
